Manager

Education/Certification

I earned both my Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Master’s in Science of Accountancy from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I have been licensed as CPA in the State of Michigan in 2020.

What is your area of specialty – how do you best help your clients?

I am a tax-specialist with a focus on closely held businesses and not-for-profit entities. In the for-profit sector, I serve a wide range of industries including health care, manufacturing, cannabis, and real estate. I find it best to never take a one size fits all approach as each client’s needs and circumstances are unique to them. I create value for and help my clients by listening and providing them with advice in both compliance and advisory roles, enabling them to focus on what matters most in their business or personal life.

What are your top 5 strengths? What is your favorite strength?

• Restorative
• Achiever
• Competition
• Includer
• Learner

Includer is my favorite. Community and connection exemplify the human experience. I strive to ensure that not only are we growing those communities and connections but that we do it intentionally to benefit all.

How do you like to give back to the community?

I currently serve as Treasurer of Bike Friendly Kalamazoo in addition to regularly volunteering at fundraisers and other events. In the summer and fall I enjoy serving my community as a League of American Bicyclists certified cycling instructor helping to make the roads a safer place for us all.

What are your superpowers – something you’re good at that others should know about?

Listening and providing understanding. Whether it is in my personal or professional life I strive to truly understand and listen to those around me to both make informed decisions and provide sound advice whenever possible. I never get tired of listening and will always make time to do so. From a weekend morning coffee to a late night phone call, it motivates me every day to make a difference in others.

Accomplishment you’re proud of?

I am proud to say that despite technically a high school dropout from a low-income family, I graduated with my bachelor’s degree before I was 21 and went on to complete my master’s despite a traumatic brain injury. The mentors, family members, colleagues, and other supporters I have had along the way have made that possible. I share my achievements with them and continue to contribute to others whenever possible.

Tell us about your life outside of work (family/pets/sports/activities/interests/hobbies)

When I am not behind a monitor or across a table I enjoy long-distance cycling, swimming, volunteering, and spending time with my family. My parents and siblings are my rocks; any chance I get to spend quality time with them I will take. I am also an aviation enthusiast and compete in local IDPA marksmanship competitions when able.

What is your favorite part of working at the firm?

My favorite part of working for Hungerford is the sense of community. Our workplace is almost like one big family but without the headaches. Our strong commitment to our values while encouraging diversity and openness has led to mutual respect and an amazingly positive culture you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else.
