I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Accounting from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo in San Luis Obispo, California. I became a CPA in 1994 and earned the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) credential from the AICPA in 2003.

What is your area of specialty – how do you best help your clients?

I am a CPA dedicated to valuations of privately-held companies. I have worked in public accounting since 1986 and am dedicated to helping clients make sound financial and business decisions. Through hard work and determination, I work to ensure that every client is treated with high regard. In addition to assisting business owners through specific transactions, I regularly am involved in preparing business valuations for divorce and other litigation matters.

How do you like to give back to the community?

Board/community involvement? I am currently serving as Chair of the Michigan Association of CPAs’ Litigation and Business Valuation Expert Panel as well as serving as a Business Valuation / Litigation Support Core Team Leader for AGN International, Ltd. I have also served in multiple leadership roles at our church for many years.

What are your superpowers – something you’re good at that others should know about?

I really enjoy making jams and jellies and sharing with others – so far my favorites are apricot jam and pomegranate jelly.

Accomplishment you’re proud of?

Getting to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite.

Tell us about your life outside of work (family/pets/sports/activities/interests/hobbies)

My wife and I are parents to three amazing women. We also have a Chihuahua mix named Josie. My favorite activity is backpacking in California’s Sierra Nevada. I’m an avid reader (non-fiction, Stephen King, sci-fi, Steinbeck), I enjoy movies, and I’ve been collecting music (mostly vinyl) since I bought my first record at 10.

What is your favorite part of working at the firm?

I really enjoy the people at the firm – I feel like we have a great team with so many smart, talented people and I’m always excited for the opportunity to get to know each of them better and work together.
