Michael joined the firm in 2016 as a Senior Audit Accountant and was promoted to Manager in 2019. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Spanish degrees in 2003 from Calvin College and his Master of Science (MSA) degree in 2007 from Grand Valley State University.
Michael had over 10 years of financial and single audit experience working on school districts, not-for-profits, and various departments within the State of Michigan. This includes over four years working directly with the Department of Education through the Statewide Single Audit (with the Office of the Auditor General); over five years working of the state of Michigan Comprehensive Annual Financial Report; and over five years working directly with school districts on the annual financial audits. Additional experience includes audit supervision of municipal and not-for-profit audits; consulting and support of LEAs, municipalities, and not-for-profits throughout the year; and preparation and review of compiled and reviewed financial statements. He is Yellow Book certified.
Originally from Wisconsin, he now lives in Grand Rapids with his wife Kristen and four children (one girl and three boys). He enjoys playing softball, attending his kids’ various activities, following all Wisconsin sports teams, and visiting the beaches of Lake Michigan in the summer with his family.
